New Foundation Waterproofing Systems
The most commonly used material for sealing new foundations is Polymer Modified Asphalt, an emulsion asphalt with rubber blended into the emulsion to provide an elastic capability that bridges the shrinkage cracks seen in masonry and poured walls.
This system is then covered with a drain, insulation, and protection board that provides a water drain plane up the vertical wall and also protects the membrane from backfill damage. This board has an energy value that meets code requirements.
This waterproofing system, in conjunction with properly installed drainage system will assure a dry and usable basement for many decades.
